This Grammy is going to Las Vegas!

I told myself it wasn’t a big deal.

I have been watching the Grammys since the 1970s. They seem to drum to their own beat when choosing what musical acts receive the prestigious award. Mistakes are sometimes made, not the least of which was in 1990 when Milli Vanilli was voted Best New Artist. But when the time came for the announcement of the Grammy Award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance my heart started pounding a little harder. I really wanted this for BTS. Not because I thought they deserve a Grammy, which I do, but because it is something they, especially Suga, seem to want. I can’t presume to know the reason it is important to them but, based on interviews, I think they feel that they will bring validation to the often-overlooked Asian music talent in the domineering western music culture. They are Korean men. They do not want to fit in or assimilate into western culture. They want Korean music to be recognized on the same level as western artists. The world should want that as well. In the Vlive they did following the Grammy broadcast, they mostly agreed that there was nothing to be sad about because they did their best. Jimin admitted he wished they had won in order to repay ARMY. Oh, Jimin! We want the Grammy for you all. Having BTS is our award.

Whether they ever win a Grammy or not we will always love them and they will always have ARMY right behind them.

I’m going to Vegas this week.

YAY! I’m going to try and document my trip as much as I can although it’s not something I excel at. I am more of soak it all in type of person rather than a “save it for later”. I do want to take some photos of the guys during the concert to share with those who weren’t able to make it.
